熊野町郷土館 Kumano History Museum

 この建物は大正時代初期、町の中心街で栄えた造り酒屋、尺田酒造場を役場が譲り受け、改築整備の後に昭和53年に開館しました。
 建物は宮大工の平木浦次郎氏が建てた重厚で立派な建物で、先祖の生活・歴史・人・産業・文化等を伝える用具や筆の文化に関する用品を保存し、後世に伝えていくものです。
 庭園には鬼瓦モニュメント、1階には明治・大正の農工具、生活用品などが、展示してあり、入口すぐのギャラリーでは、DVDで「筆づくり」や「筆まつり」、「筆踊り」や「彼岸舟」などの映像を見ることができます。
 中でも、2階にある昭和天皇が広島に来られた時に使用された椅子の展示や、郷土が誇る童謡作曲家の「坊田かずま」の遺品の展示は興味をそそります。また、誰もが出店できるコーナーも設けられています。

Kumano History Museum

This facility was created by remodeling an old-style distillery, and introduces Kumano traditions and history to the current generation.
It exhibits brushes, old articles of everyday use, and belongings of children's song writer Kazuma Bota.
The gallery and other exhibits are continuously on display.
Volunteer sightseeing guides from the "Capital of Brushes Guide Association" offer free guide services to the cultural properties and other attractions in the town.
